Prayer is an essential part of any Christian gathering. Here are some ideas for interactive praying as a church family
  1. Prayer ball of thanksgiving: Grab a beach ball (definitely not a heavy ball) and throw it around your church, if you catch it you need to say one thing that you want to thank God for. A fun way of doing your prayers of thanksgiving. We have used alternatives when we didn't have a ball eg. a prayer rubber chicken, A prayer teddy etc
  2. Blessings prayer tree: Get someone arty to draw a giant tree or grab a giant branch with lots of branches on it - give people a pen and post it notes and let them draw or right prayers of thanksgiving around what God has blessed them with. We did this one with our Count your blessings service
  3. Saltdough prayers: Our church loved this one and it got their creative juices going. Give each person a ball of playdough as they arrive - during prayer time, invite them to create a symbol or object of what they would like to pray for. This works best in small groups - create then gather in cmall groups to pray.
  4. Prayer meditation: Get the whole church to stand in a circle around the edge of the chruch holding hands. Have each person close their eyes as one person leads everyone through a personal prayer meditation. Here is an example of one that we have used, you can choose what ever you like for your own churches meditation. It is nice to play some quiet instrumental music in the background or you can try 'pads' that you can find online - - if you choose to sing a song after the meditation make sure the pad is in the same key as it will make the transition easier. You can also purchase pads if you don't have access to internet during your service - here is one site:

Lets hold hands as we pray together as a family. Lets close our eyes as we prepare to connect with God -Matthew 6:6 says “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
As our service comes to a close lets spend this time in conversation with God...Feel his presence here this morning...I want you to Remember one high moment from your week...something that stood out for you, it may have been big, it may have been small, whatever it was remember it now and take some time to talk to God about that moment...
Now lets remember a time that was not as good, a down moment in your week. I time when you felt at your weakest. Talk to God about this moment and ask him to give you the strength to get through these harder times
Lets all remember somebody that you know who needs help, maybe they are sick or maybe they lost and need guidance. Whatever it is that they need lets spend sometime prayering for this person.
Lastly Ephesians 4:16 says, " 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Think of what gifts God has blessed you with. lets spend this time praying over these gifts and how we can use them to strengthen Gods kingdom
Lord we have prayed with you and to you and connected as one we give these prayers that have been said in our hearts to you Lord. Amen
